Ask Eve | Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month

We suggest you Ask Eve this September… There is embarrassment and silence surrounding gynaecological issues, with almost a third of 16 – 35-year-olds avoiding going to the doctors because they are too embarrassed to talk about them.

Moreover, 1 in 5 women can’t name a single sign or symptom of a gynaecological cancer.

Embarrassment should not be a major barrier to seeking help.

We know that early presentation to a doctor can substantially increase the chance of cure from cancer, and following an exploratory exercise listening to what women wanted, The Eve Appeal launched the Ask Eve Service in May 2016 to provide reliable information and spread awareness of gynae cancers to encourage prevention and early detection.

The Ask Eve Nurse-led Information Service offers free, confidential and specialist information and advice for individuals, family members, friends and health professionals. Our Nurse Specialist and Ask Eve Team provide a straight-talking, embarrassment-free service to encourage people to access info on signs and symptoms, treatment and care, and genetic factors (e.g. BRCA) related to gynaecological cancers.

With Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month coming up in September, we wanted to spread the word about gynaecological cancers and if you have a question, you can always Ask Eve – no question is too trivial or too embarrassing. With 55 women diagnosed and 21 dying each and every day from a gynaecological cancer in the UK, we don’t want any woman dying of embarrassment!
