How the Venturi Effect Transforms Aircare Innovation
At Vectair, purposeful design is at the core of every aircare solution we create, including how we use airflow to carry fragrance. One principle that plays a vital role in airflow is the Venturi Effect, a natural phenomenon where air speeds up as it moves through a narrowed space, causing a drop in pressure. This change in pressure creates a gentle pull that draws surrounding air into the flow. In aircare, this effect can be applied to move fragranced air more efficiently through a dispenser, helping deliver consistent scent without the need for batteries or propellants.
What is the Venturi Effect?
The Venturi Effect occurs when air or fluid flows through a narrow section of a channel. As it enters this constricted space, its speed increases while its pressure decreases. This creates a natural pull that helps draw other elements into the flow and carry them further through the system. Although often used to describe how water moves, the same concept applies to air.
A recent study from the peer-reviewed journal Energies found that using the Venturi Effect in residential ventilation helped improve airflow through thoughtful passive design. The study also highlighted its potential to lower energy consumption and support sustainable building practices by reducing reliance on mechanical cooling systems.
Turning Science into Simplicity
At Vectair, we applied the Venturi Effect to develop an aircare system that harnesses natural airflow for consistent and efficient fragrance delivery.
Coming Soon: The V-Air Flow
Launching at the end of June, the V-Air Flow brings the Venturi Effect to life. Air enters through the front vents of the dispenser and moves through a specially designed back chamber. As it travels through this narrowed space, the Venturi Effect takes place. The pressure drops and the air speeds up, drawing airflow over the fragrance refill and helping distribute scent evenly across the space it’s in. From there, the fragranced air flows into the space, creating an even, long-lasting scent experience.
Designed with Sustainability in Mind
V-Air Flow combines the best of active and passive aircare without the fragrance falloff of aerosols. The dispenser is made from 100 percent post-consumer recycled plastic and includes a light sensor to support energy conservation. It is compatible with rechargeable batteries and uses a refill that is more than 50 percent plant-based, non-flammable, VOC-compliant, and free from pressurized components. This helps reduce waste, avoid leaks and spills, and promote a safer, more sustainable fragrance solution.
Let’s continue to explore what becomes possible when innovation is rooted in simplicity and sustainability. By rethinking how spaces function, Vectair remains committed to creating solutions that improve environments and support the future of responsible design.
