We care about carbon reduction

Vectair Systems

Last month, we attended the ‘Carbon Reduction 2015: Reducing Carbon Emissions’ conference organised by Gov Today magazine.

The well established annual green economy event is now in its sixth year and was hosted for the first time at the prestigious riverside Mermaid Theatre, in the heart of the City of London on 11th February.

The conference was focused around reducing carbon emissions in all sectors.

Over the last few years, great strides have been taken in the journey to a more sustainable UK economy. We realise the importance of reducing carbon emissions on the environment and wanted to learn more about new policies that the Government has put into place on climate change, and how it affects us as a business.

Carbon reduction

Carbon Dioxide emissions in the UK stood at over 650 million tonnes last year, meaning there is still much to do if the 80% reduction on 1990 emissions by 2050 as required by the Climate Change Act is to be realistically achieved.

BIM

Building information modelling (BIM) is a process involving the generation and management of digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of places. Building information models (BIMs) are files which can be exchanged or networked to support decision-making about a place. Current BIM software is used by individuals, businesses and government agencies who plan, design, construct, operate and maintain diverse physical infrastructures, such as water, wastewater, electricity, gas, refuse and communication utilities, roads, bridges and ports, houses, apartments, schools and shops, offices, factories, warehouses and prisons.

As a manufacturer, it is not only important that we are aware of BIM, but it is important that we assess our environmental impact of our products and ensure that we are continuing to innovate both in terms of technology and environmental factors.

Green products

Our intention, as an innovator, is to constantly develop new technology to revolutionize the hygiene industry (odour control, hand hygiene, hand drying, air freshening and more) and provide the best possible solutions whilst being environmentally friendly.

Take our new V-Air® SOLID air freshener – it is completely free of any solvents, propellants, HFCs and contains no batteries – all it needs to work is natural airflow. The refill is 100% organic and biodegradable and the dispenser is 100% recyclable.

Our ‘green’ and carbon reduction efforts go way beyond product innovation though – we consider the environment in everything we do, whether that be in our office environment, or our packaging. To see our commitment to a greener world, you can read more in our Being Responsible section.

Of course, like every other business, we still have a way to go to become completely green. Is that even possible? I’m sure the answer to that is no. But in the meantime, we can rest assured that we are making a difference, and staying up to date on the newest developments.

Find out how Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School in Blackburn, Lancashire has saved £15,000 in just one year by installing Vectair Systems’ Sensaflush® water control unit – that’s enough to buy a brand new playground or 40 iPads for the classroom.
